Gym I operate out of a home gym. I have a spacious second-floor gym with high ceilings and over 20 linear feet of windows looking over the 40 acre Omand's Park and Creek in Wolseley. I have a front foyer/office area for consultations and a large, modern washroom and shower, as well as the gym, all self contained as a separate part of my home. The gym is stocked with a full compliment of free weights (hex-style dumbells, and collared dumb and barbells with weight plates), weight benches, fitness tree, medicine balls, a variety of exercise bands and balls, and more. There's a Tacx virtual reality bike trainer that allows you to ride a selection of virtual courses as the resistance applied to your pedaling simulates hills, wind, and varied terrain, all while you view the course in real time on the monitor in front of you. I also have a top-end Cyclops bike trainer that can be easily adjusted to fit almost any rider and does an amazing job of measuring various performance matrices including power output as measured in watts. Performance data collected from the Tacx and Cyclops trainers can be seamlessly uploaded to the TrainingPeaks software.
Generally I recommend that clients do their cardio work independently (after proper instruction, with the training plan I've given them in hand, and with lots of available feedback) instead of paying me to, for instance, watch them ride a bike for 45 minutes, but cardio equipment such as the Tacx and Cyclops trainers are great for fitness testing and to occasionally do something a bit different.
Close proximity to Omand's Park allows for outdoor workouts as well, whether the order of the day is interval hill climbs or some isometrics.
